To The Beach...

To The Beach...

The Sun is out! I can't quite believe it but it really is. After months of rain we did what most Brits enjoy when the sun makes an appearance and headed to the beach...

Crochet Pattern - Food Covers

Crochet Pattern - Food Covers

I've been crocheting hats for the past week but I had time over the weekend to have a play with my yarn and hooks and the result was these sweet food covers.  They provided me with the instant crochet gratification I was after...

An Everything Oz Scarecrow

and a mini book review

An Everything Oz Scarecrow

I was very happy to receive a copy of Everything Oz: The Wizard Book of Makes and Bakes by Hannah Read-Baldrey and Christine Leech to review. I love the idea of creating craft books around well loved tales and I have often referred to their last book Everything Alice for crafty inspiration so I knew I'd enjoy it.

I was keen to give one of the projects a go straight away and Monday being rainy and grey I set out to find something that Lulu and I could do together and as we happen to have an abundance of hay following Oli's cowboy party the 'No Brainer Scarecrow' seemed like the perfect project...

A Cowboy Birthday Party

Oli's 6th Birthday

A Cowboy Birthday Party

Hooray Oli has finally turned six - he has been counting down the days to his birthday for what seems like months now! We planned a Cowboy party at home for him and were hoping for sun so that we could play games and eat in the garden but it was not to be, so we cleared out the studio at the bottom of the garden and set to work making bits and pieces to make it feel like a saloon (well our interpretation of one anyway!)...

Crochet Pattern - Sunglasses Case

Crochet Pattern - Sunglasses Case

While I was being distracted last week from my granny squares I came across this post by Meredith over at One Sheepish Girl and fell a little bit in love with her knitted sunglasses case. So with my lovely new wool I started playing around with stitches to create my own (crocheted) sunglasses case and this is what I came up with...

Crochet - Playing with Colour

Crochet - Playing with Colour

Well half term has just flown by, the weather here has been miserable and meant we celebrated the jubilee with a very wet BBQ - by BBQ I mean Rob in the garden while it poured down, cooking under the gazebo and everyone else crammed into the kitchen and living room! But in true Brit style it was a lovely day nonetheless.

My hook, although slow, has not been idle this week and I did start another crochet project but, as I have the attention span of a small child, this has turned into several projects...

Crochet Pattern - Jubilee Crown

Crochet Pattern - Jubilee Crown

I wanted to crochet some Crowns for our Jubilee celebrations this weekend and I found some lovely crown patterns online but after making a few up they just didn't match what I had in my head. I didn't just want crowns I wanted a crown that reminded me of HRH Queen Elizabeth II...

Reasons to celebrate

An Olympic Torch & A Birthday

Reasons to celebrate

What a hectic but fabulous week it's been. Tuesday the Olympic Torch passed through our Town, Oli finished school early & Rob took a long lunch break so we managed to watch the event as a family.  The weather was glorious and there was such an incredible spirit, we were really pleased to be able to watch the torch changing hands...
