Snow and Stuff...

and some crochet work in progress

Snow and Stuff...

It's been SNOWING here (well it's been snowing mostly everywhere in the UK). The children were up earlier than Christmas day on Friday morning, looking out for the heavy snow that had been forecast. For once the British weather did not let them down!

Schools were closed so I didn't manage to finish the projects I was working on but that was okay because it was SNOWING...

Pom-Pom Tea Cosy

Pom-Pom Tea Cosy

A while ago I went along to a Jamie at Home party. I fell in love with a big yellow teapot that was sitting snug inside a lovely bright crochet tea cosy. I ended up buying the teapot but I just couldn't justify buying the cosy when I knew I would get more satisfaction (and save some pennies) if I made one myself...

Happy New Year {2013}

Happy New Year {2013}

Hello and Happy 2013! We all had a lovely Christmas and have been enjoying the slow pace of the holidays ever since. I've had a bit of a break from technology, (partly enforced by an accident involving my IPhone and the toilet) and it's been strangely peaceful...

Crochet Pattern - Sweet Decoration

Crochet Candy...

Crochet Pattern - Sweet Decoration

I was playing around with some new yarn the other night and for some reason it made me think of sweets so I attempted to crochet one. However, once I had finished I felt the yarn was more suited to gloves or socks but I really liked my little sweetie so I decided to make a few more in cotton for my Christmas tree...

Crochet - The Good, bad and The Unbelievable

Crochet - The Good, bad and The Unbelievable

It's been a week of ups and downs here. It's so easy to write about the things I've made that have worked but that is not always the way things go...

Crochet - Gingerbread House

A weekend project...

Crochet - Gingerbread House

We had a quiet sort of weekend so I spent some time browsing the Internet for crochet gingerbread patterns after a friend and I were discussing how to make them, I got completely sidetracked when I came across this gorgeous pattern for a gingerbread house and knew I had to make it...

Crochet Pattern - Jar cosy

Crochet Pattern - Jar cosy

I've been seeing lot's of lovely crochet jar cosies used for tea lights recently, I think it must be something about the winter months that just makes me want to make everything look warm and cosy, so I decided to have a go at some.

I've also found they are brilliant for practising new stitch patterns...

Crochet - Hats, Hats and more Hats

Crochet - Hats, Hats and more Hats

We actually had some snow over the weekend, not enough to get excited about but enough to remind me that winter is fast approaching. This time of year I always end up crocheting hats for myself, friends and family so I thought I would share some of the patterns I have been enjoying...

Crochet - Granny Square Snood-Scarf

Crochet - Granny Square Snood-Scarf

Where are the days going? Sometimes it feels like a blur of work, cooking, homework, classes, washing etc and before I know it a whole week has passed again! I've been working on a few hat orders and any free moments I've had in the evenings have been spent very selfishly crocheting an item for myself.

I really wanted a bright snood and I was so inspired by all the granny square scarves I've been seeing online, especially those from the House of Holland Winter 2011 show, that I thought I'd have a go at making a granny square snood, just for me...
