Hooked: 40 Whimsical Crochet Motifs
Hello. I’m joining the Crochet Motifs blog hop today hosted by Stitch Craft Create to celebrate the launch of a new book by Michell Delprat and her daughters Cécile and Sylvie; Hooked: 40 Whimsical Crochet Motifs from Weird to Wonderful…
I do love a crochet motif so I was more than happy to have a look at Hooked and see what I could create. The book is so lovely and bright which takes me straight to my happy place. The motifs range from flowers, toadstools to skulls and lightening bolts making it suitable for a wide range of projects. Several of the patterns also come with adaptions for small, medium and large versions which is great if, like me, you like to adorn you projects with lots of motifs of varying sizes.
It’s still so cold here so I thought I’d treat myself to a new hot water bottle cover. I made this one using some chunky yarn I already had and adapted a pattern that I had produced for an old issue of Simply Crochet (Issue 11). I followed the basic pattern but changed the neck to create a nice chunky roll neck sweater for my hottie. I then made up two of the flower motifs from Hooked (in the medium and large sizes) and a few of the leaves to pretty it up.
I’m really pleased with the result. I can definitely see myself making more motifs up. I’m quite taken with these little birds, perfect for a cardigan or maybe a cushion or two!
If you’d like to go and have a look at the other projects some of my favourite bloggers have been making up from Hooked you can find the schedule here: Crochet Motif Blog Hop
Also Stitch Craft Create are running a gorgeous competition on their blog where you could win a copy of Hooked and 6 colourful balls of Stylecraft Special DK yarn. Details can be found over on their blog.
You can shop more of my favourite crochet books here.
Bye for now. Em xx
