Hello. Just popping in with the show notes and a little crochet update today as I’ve just uploaded episode 14 of my crochet podcast to YouTube…

Edit* you can now purchase the boho bunting pattern on Ravelry, Etsy and Love Crochet. You can find all the details here.

Finished Items:

I finished two crochet market totes – the pattern for which is now available for free here. The first one I added tassels to as I’d picked up a large bag of wooden beads on Amazon and I’m determined to use them! The second one I embellished with crochet ribbon and a string of beaded pearls. I really love the way these look and I’m excited to try more in some bright colours. You can read all about these bags over on the blog post here.

I’m also really excited to share that I have a pattern in the latest issue of Mollie Makes (Issue 93). I really enjoyed making this crochet boho bunting, made using dk cotton, it’s such a simple yet beautiful make…and you know there is no such thing as too much bunting! If you can’t get hold of a paper issue you can also purchase a digital copy here

WIPS:

I’ve been working on this simple flag design so that I can create a crochet wall hanging to show off my small (but growing!) collection of enamel pins. Whilst I was in my local yarn store I came across these two beautiful yarns by Katia. The blue one is Katia Louisiana in shade 70 - Blue (70% Cotton/30% acrylic) it’s an aran weight yarn described on their website as; ‘a white cotton blend yarn with a finer coloured yarn wrapped around it. A spongy yarn resulting in textural fabrics ideal for both adult and kid’s jackets, knitted jumpers and summer t-shirts. The bright Louisiana colour range is ideal for soft home pieces like soft cushions and blankets’ The grey yarn is Katia Malibu in the shade 63 – Medium Grey (76% combed and mercerized cotton/24% acrylic) and is described as; ‘White cotton tape yarn with dots of colour. This flat shiny yarn is an excellent choice for women’s and girl’s jackets’ I would agree with both of those descriptions and I’m excited to experiment with this yarn on my wall hanging – I’m thinking of using it in the edging and tassels and maybe even some surface crochet.

I’m also joining in with Sandra’s Cherry Heart Make Along #cherryheartmal. I’ve started crocheting the Victoria Shawl in Drops Alpaca (100% Alpaca) and it’s already looking so beautiful. I’m working the body of the shawl in shade 9020 (Light grey pearl mix) and I’m thinking of using the darker grey 0506 (dark grey mix) for the edging. You can find all the details of Sandra’s MAL over on her blog here.

New Items:

Nothing new this week but I did receive a lovely gift from an Instagram friend which was my very own ‘dodgy bag’ in the most glorious cosmic fabric! I’m so happy to have one and it even included pretty stitch markers and tea!

Reading:

I’ve just finished reading Good Me, Bad Me by Ali Land and I really enjoyed the story. This is a dark psychological thriller about a 15-year-old girl who turns her serial killer mother over to the police. Certainly not for the faint hearted its main character is a deeply disturbed teenager trying to adjust to her new life whilst fighting her against her past and upbringing. The author actually graduated from university with a degree in Mental Health and spent a decade working as a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nurse and I think you can definitely tell that it is written by someone with a real insight into the minds of abused children.

Watching:

Season two of The Handmaids Tale, only one episode in and I’m already loving it.

That’s it for now, you can watch episode 14 here. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks with another podcast.

Bye for now, Em xx
