Snow and Stuff...

Snow and Stuff...

and some crochet work in progress

It's been SNOWING here (well it's been snowing mostly everywhere in the UK). The children were up earlier than Christmas day on Friday morning, looking out for the heavy snow that had been forecast. For once the British weather did not let them down!

Schools were closed so I didn't manage to finish the projects I was working on but that was okay because it was SNOWING...

I tried to start the day calmly with a cup of tea and some toasted crumpets but the little ones were having none of it - it was all I could do to stop them going out in their PJs!

So early o'clock we were all wrapped up and outside marveling at the winter wonderland that had become our garden. It was beautiful and calm, and so very bright! They played for an hour before the cold finally got the better of them. Then with rosy cheeks they were stripped of soaking clothes wrapped up again and put in front of the fire with hot chocolate.

It went on like this all day; I couldn't dry jeans, hats & gloves fast enough. By Saturday the snow had stopped but everything was so well covered we walked through the fields to find some hills to sledge down, we all loved this (especially Rob).

I did manage time for some crochet, firstly was the mini tea cosy I promised Lulu after she took a liking to mine. I made this up very quickly by using chunky yarn. She loved it and delighted in telling us we could now have 'hot' tea (as opposed to the imaginary cold stuff she'd been serving us I suppose).

I also worked on a couple of other projects, Lulu's blanket and a surprise for Lulu - I'm aware there seems to be a theme here, Oli has recently pulled me up on this and put in some requests of his own!

I don't really like being cold, but I do like coming in from the cold, cosying up and spending time baking rice puddings and stews (and all those other winter time comfort foods) and knowing I do not have to be anywhere else!

A mini tea cosy - complete with mini pom pom :)

The beginnings of something new...

...and still working on something old!

Also I just wanted to mention that the team behind the lovely magazine Mollie Makes have released a brand new crochet magazine; 'Simply Crochet'. I've not yet managed to get my hands on a copy but they very kindly emailed me a sampler to share. So if you'd like to have a peek inside issue one (out now) click here.

I hope you've all enjoyed the snow if you've had it, and that you are safe and warm.

Bye for now. Em xx

Yes , fortunately we are well. We have been under extremely bad weather with lots of rain and strong winds. Things seams to be better now! :) xx

Beautiful pictures as always. Love the mini tea cosy so cute.
We've had lots of snow too I can totally empathise with keeping up with drying clothes. It's nearly impossible. Especially as once they're dry they want to go back out again.

I love the mini version a lot. Your tea must taste so much better now that it is warm, especially in this weather :)Glad you had fun in the snow - your photos are wonderful. I know what you mean about coming in and keeping warm! Looking forward to seeing your next makes:)
