Crochet Podcast Episode 37
Hello, I’m so happy it’s finally February I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to the lighter days. I’m back today with episode 37 of the podcast…
{07.02.21}
Finished Objects:
I finished my ruffle tea cosy in the neutral shade and it has been giving me so much joy this week. Inspired by my new obsession with Netflix’s Bridgerton I added some beautiful champagne coloured thread to add a bit of sparkle. Sadly, I ran out of the thread before I managed to finish the ruffles but I carried on anyway and when I come across something similar I’ll just weave it in and out of the stitches – It actually hasn’t worried me to much as the sparkle is quite subtle. The pattern is from my book Romantic Crochet available to buy from Amazon US and Amazon UK as well as other book stores.
I’ve also been busy making these gorgeous twisted headbands. I was looking for something to keep my ears warm on all these long walks we’re enjoying during lockdown. I’ve linked the pattern here, I used the alpine stitch for mine and I love the way they’ve turned out. The grey yarn I used was King Cole Drifter in the shade Rockies and the green yarn is Paintbox Simply Chunky Acrylic
Works in Progress (WIPS):
I’ve started the most beautiful shawl by Dragana Savkov Bajic from Dada’s Place. The shawl is called the Awana Shawl and it has a beautiful combination of open stitches and bobble stitches. I’m using some Drops Nord and a 3mm even though the pattern calls for cotton thread and a 2mm and it seems to be working up well so far.
New Items:
I’ve ordered a few craft bits from Hobby Craft to do some holiday crafts with Lulu.
Wire Bunny Wreath this looks like it’s sold out now but there’s a fabulous heart one here , some cute speckled decorative eggs to decorate our wreath (these also come in pastel colours!), some wooden hanging hearts for Valentines day crafts and some metallic acrylic markers to help decorate them.
This month’s books and TV chat:
Currently reading (and loving) Dolly Alderton’s Ghosts and The Five: The untold story of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Reubenhold.
We also just watched The Dig on Netflix with Ralph Fiennes and Carey Mulligan a beautiful film about the excavation at Sutton Hoo in 1939 based on the novel by John Preston
You can watch episode 37 here on YouTube.
I think that’s it for this month, I’ll be back in a couple of weeks with a new episode but until then you may want to check out my ‘January Vlog‘ or ‘The Books I Want to Read in 2021‘ – please don’t forget to ‘like’, ‘subscribe’ and ‘share’ if you enjoy the podcast, it really means so much to me.
Stay safe, bye for now. Em xx
