Hello. February is finally here and I am over the moon about it. I’ve tried to make friends with January, I really have, but I feel it’s an on-going process so I’ll keep trying and for now just be thankful to be that bit closer to Spring.

Anyway, I have been busy crocheting and designing so I thought I’d share a few things I have made over the past month with you today…

I have filmed and uploaded two episodes of my crochet podcast over on YouTube since I last blogged so if you’d like to see some of these projects in more detail please pop over and have a watch.

I finally finished my Lost In Time shawl by Johanna Lindahl and I’m so happy I persisted with it. It makes me smile every time I see it. I’m afraid the photo here doesn’t really do it justice as it is hung up backwards, but you can really see how beautiful that Sheepjes yarn is (Scheepjes Whirl in Watermelon Hell Raiser):

I have also been busy making some of these super easy headbands to keep my ears warm on dog walks. They are such a quick and fun project… I’ve promised to do a little how-to here on the blog, as they are a great way of experimenting with stitch patterns. I used some James C Brett Marble DK (shade 47) for the one I’m wearing below and I love the effect:

I started the beautiful Goldenrod Sweater by Linda Skuya. I absolutely adore this pattern; I’m crocheting it in Jarol Heritage Wool Rich 4ply in the shade 148. I’ve come along quite a bit since I first showed it in Episode 8, I’m hoping to finish it this week as I’ve only got the arms left to do so I will take some better photos once it’s finished:

I also gave my Skinny Hearts pattern a little upgrade with some of this fabulous Oshare Pom Pom yarn, which I bought from Loop London. I love the result of adding this as an edging to a project and I definitely want to try other ways of using it in my projects:

The last wip I have to share is a granny square top I am making for my daughter. I’m going for a retro 70’s vibe and I managed to find most of the colours I was looking for in the Paintbox Cotton DK 10 ball pack in the shade ‘Fallen Leaves.’ I’m just making this one up as I go along really but it’s fun to be working on granny squares again.

I’ve also been naughty and purchased some new books and yarn recently…I can’t seem to stop myself BUT I am ONLY buying yarn for specific projects and not just because it’s pretty (this is what I’m telling myself anyway). This hand dyed Dusty Dimples yarn is stunning but I am going to put it straight to work on my Saturday Square blanket. As for books, I purchased an illustrated copy of Pride and Prejudice during our recent trip to the Jane Austen’s House Museum and I’m currently reading The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock by Imogen Hermes Gower which I’m loving!

And that is it for crochet at the moment. The children have been on half term this week so we’ve been busy with days out and long walks…especially those sunset walks, which occur when you realise they still have far too much energy about them! These photos are from the beautiful Heavens Gate which overlooks the Longleat Estate and has the most stunning sunsets.
